If you want to start learning the sport, the best place to start is dinghy sailing here in Langstone Harbour

Dinghy Sailing at Tudor

We have a very active dinghy section at Tudor SC, offering a vast choice of events to suit most people’s needs. We aim to cater for all, providing friendly support for the novice sailor, and challenging cruises and competitions for the advanced sailor. Whilst we do not offer RYA training courses at Tudor, our friendly neighbours at Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre offer discounted courses to TSC members Sailing pathways – Andrew Simpson Centres

The long shallow slipway allows launching at all states of the tide, making Tudor SC the most accessible club in Langstone Harbour. This key feature allows the club to offer a full and varied programme of events, including activities out in the Solent. Our large compound provides secure dinghy storage, with more than 150 dinghy spaces. These are split into 'summer only' and 'all year round' spaces, we currently have both space types available for new members.

Racing

The club offers a full calendar of dinghy racing, with organised events all year round. In the summer months there can be up to 3 or 4 races per week. The winter racing programme has been extended for the 2023 / 2024 season to provide additional opportunities to race for the hardier sailors. The racing programme includes both racing series and individual trophy races, each tailored towards a different theme, from general club handicap racing, pursuit racing, long distance racing, short course racing, through to various regattas, there is something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Cruising

For those of you who prefer a more relaxing sail, organised cruising days are featured throughout the year, allowing you to explore Langstone Harbour accompanied by a patrol boat for peace of mind. The harbour is one of the quietest sheltered waters on the south coast and is a real haven for wildlife. There are also regular informal dinghy cruises throughout the summer months, giving you an opportunity to cruise in company and learn from other sailors.

Club Owned Dinghies

In 2015 Tudor Sailing Club was awarded a grant of £10,000 by the Sport England Small Grants Programme, this was used to purchase 3 new club dinghies to add to the small fleet of Optimists the club already owned. The dinghies are 2 RS Feva 'S' and 1 RS Quba. Since the Sport England club boats arrived in 2015 Tudor SC has further expanded its club boat fleet to include 3 RS Tera dinghies, a pico, a Topaz, a Wanderer and a Wayfarer. This has enabled members to go afloat with their families without the need to commit to purchase a boat of their own. We are proud to offer such a diverse fleet at rates that are very reasonable.
